Qualifications and Contact
How many years of experience do you have in the field of graphic design?
I have been employed in graphic design for about 23 years. About 21 years of those have been with employers which have an agency structure.
What aspect of graphic design do you like the best?
I enjoy projects that weigh heavily on the brand. I believe in order to present a business or institution properly, one should carry a brand in a consistent way to show its stability and integrity. That’s not to say there may be a little wiggle room to surprise your audience with a few twists and turns.
Do you have any supervisory experience?
The short answer — no. However, I have trained others at Living Spaces Furniture how to take product photography, run a large format print shop. While at UCR, I have been a lead designer a couple of times including the 54 facts section of their admissions website.
Have you ever work done work for any big brands that I may know?
I have worked on campaigns for Citizens Business Bank, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the City of Upland, Living Spaces Furniture, and the University of California, Riverside.
Why don't you have any samples of Living Spaces projects?
I have signed a non-disclosure agreement that prevents me from showing any Living Spaces projects publicly.
What is your claim to fame project?
In the early 2000s I designed the City of Upland logo. It still brings me joy to see it on shopping monuments, street signs, etc. It does annoy me a bit though to see the logo squashed to fit some street signs. ::sigh::
Which programs are you most and least familiar with?
Of course, I am at an expert level in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I’m pretty savvy with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Dreamweaver, After Effects. I dabble in 3D programs such as 3D Studio Max and Blender 3D and have been learning a lot about modeling. I use a 3D printer for projects around the house.
Do you have any hobbies?
I have always been artistic since I can remember. So drawing and painting is a pastime I enjoy. I also have been learning guitar for the past 7 years and getting better all the time… slowly. Other than that I love to go fishing, hiking, and biking.
